From Passion to Pizza – The Beginning of Criscito
Criscito Pizza was established in 2013 with a simple goal: to bring truly great pizza to San Diego. At the time, I had no formal experience—just a deep appreciation for the incredible pizza I grew up eating in New York and New Jersey.
I was born in Brooklyn and raised in New Jersey, where pizza is more than food—it’s part of the culture. That connection runs even deeper in my family history. My great-grandfather was among the early pioneers of pizza in the United States, selling slices from a cart on the streets of New York City.
Crafted the Right Way – Our Commitment to Authenticity
In the early days, what started as a personal pursuit quickly became a shared obsession. We immersed ourselves in learning the craft—working alongside family in Brooklyn, studying the techniques behind great bread and pizza, and doing whatever it took to understand what made the best pizzerias stand out. From digging through dumpsters to see what top spots were using (yes, really) to firing off endless questions at unsuspecting pizza makers.
We launched as a mobile wood-fired pizzeria in 2013, and over time, the business grew steadily. In recent years, we’ve had the privilege of catering around 300 events annually, serving wood-fired pizza to communities all over San Diego County.

Proudly based in Carmel Valley, Criscito Pizza has become a trusted name for pizza in San Diego, serving communities from Del Mar to Carlsbad and throughout North County.
In 2023, we opened our first brick-and-mortar pizzeria. Our vision was simple: a focused menu, exceptional quality, and genuine hospitality—all in a neighborhood space where people feel comfortable, welcomed, and at home.
